Creative Industries at Clare High School brings together Technologies and The Arts, two learning areas that develop students’ creativity, technical skill, and capacity for hands-on design and production, from engineering and digital media to performance and visual art.
In Middle Secondary (Year 7 to Year 9), students engage in foundational Design and Technology projects, including engineering principles, network systems, programming, and hands-on construction, with Year 9 extending into more advanced topics such as Woodwork/Sheetmetal and CAD/CNC Machining. Alongside this, The Arts introduces students to Performing Arts, Media Arts, Music, and Visual Arts, building confidence, teamwork, and technical ability through practical activities such as physical theatre, improvisation, media production, and artistic technique.
From Year 10, both learning areas offer more specialised elective pathways, allowing students to begin tailoring their study toward particular interests, whether in technical and engineering-focused Technology subjects or in specific Arts disciplines such as digital media, design, drama, or music.
At Stage 1 (Year 11) and Stage 2 (Year 12), Technologies and The Arts offer dedicated SACE subjects that build toward further study or careers in creative, technical, and design-related fields. These senior courses allow for deeper specialisation, developing students’ skills in design thinking, digital and physical production, and critical and reflective practice across their chosen discipline.
