The Clare High School Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday, 13 March (Week 7) on the Clare High School oval. As with the Swimming Carnival our focus is on participation, with no limit on the number of students entering an event. Novelty events are also a part of our carnival to allow more students to participate.

The House Spirit Shield will be awarded to enhance participation, encourage students to wear their house colour and to support their house through involvement, participation and war cry. 2026 will see the Champion Boys and Girls Athletics Shields continue. First, second and third medals will be presented to our Age Champions. As with our 2026 Clare High School Swimming Carnival we will award again the Clare High School Family Trophy. This trophy is awarded to the siblings whose combined points awarded throughout the day end up with the highest score.

Normal lessons will be suspended on this day and all students are expected to be in attendance, whether competing or not. If students are absent on the day normal procedures apply. The morning roll class will take place in roll class classrooms at 8:45am, with the first event commencing at 9:00am sharp. Should the carnival be postponed due to unsuitable weather then this day will be a normal school day with a back-up date to be advised.

Students should bring food and water for the day. The School canteen will be available and there will be a BBQ running on the day. Sunscreen and water will be provided by the School and shades will be set up. Students are encouraged to wear their house shirts and colours and are required to wear their broad brimmed or bucket hat. Shoes are required to be worn at all times.

Our 1500m and 3000m will be run in the lead up to Athletics Day:

3000m: FRIDAY, 6 March – Week 6, Lesson 6 (06/03/2026) (Year 7 students completed the 3km run in PE class)

1500m: TUESDAY, 10 March Week 7, Lessons 1 – 2 (10/03/2026)
(9:00am U13, 9:15am U14, 9:30am U15, 9:45am U16, 10:00am U21)

Parents are strongly encouraged to attend and support their children, particularly for the Athletics Carnival on the Friday of Week 7. A program of the day will be sent out closer to the Athletics Carnival. If you are able to assist with timekeeping or at an event on the day, please email me at John.Stevens730@schools.sa.edu.au.
