At Clare High School, the English program from Year 7 to Year 12 is designed to develop students’ proficiency in language, literature, and literacy through a range of engaging and meaningful contexts.
In Years 7 through 10, students build foundational skills in reading, writing, speaking, and critical analysis, working with diverse texts including novels, short stories, poetry, and multimedia. The curriculum emphasizes explicit literacy instruction and fosters ICT skills, creative thinking, and collaborative work.
Year 11 and 12 students have the option to pursue either English Literary Studies, General English, and Essential English focusing on advanced text analysis and creation, critical thinking, and diverse writing tasks, preparing them for further study or professional pathways.
The program is supported by a dedicated team of staff and incorporates real-world contexts, ensuring students are well-prepared for future academic and career pursuits.
