Dear Clare High School Community,
Over the past few weeks, our school community has been abuzz with activity—from exciting student camps and innovative wellbeing programs to outstanding staff achievements and preparations for upcoming events. Here’s a snapshot of what’s been happening at CHS.
Last week, our Year 8 students headed to Adelaide for a jam-packed three-day camp filled with fun, connection, and adventure. Highlights included visits to St Kilda Playground, 10 Pin Bowling, a Quiz & Games Night, the Adelaide Gaol, Adelaide University, the Australian Space Discovery Centre, Tree Climb, and a night at the movies.
The camp was designed to build student confidence, independence, and friendships in a supportive and enjoyable setting. A huge thank you to Junior Secondary Coordinator Mrs McCarthy for organising the experience, and to staff members Mr Lodge, Mr Connell, Mrs Holland, Tash Quinton, Ms Liebelt, Mrs Alozie, and Mrs Knight for their support.
Lifetime Membership for Lesley Squires
Congratulations to Lesley Squires, who has been awarded lifetime membership of the Agricultural Teachers Association of SA. This prestigious recognition celebrates Lesley’s outstanding contributions to agricultural education and the positive impact she has had on countless students.
University Graduations – Kylie Alozie & Shannon Upton
We’re proud to congratulate Kylie Alozie (MEd) and Shannon Upton (BEd & BScience) on their recent graduation from the University of Adelaide. Their dedication and achievement were acknowledged by the school community, with a special mention for Kylie, who received the Anthony Pattern Award for academic excellence.
Our Year 9 students recently took part in the first session of Beyond the Swing, a unique Golf and Mental Resilience program led by former LPGA Tour Winner Tamie Durdin.
This innovative initiative combines the sport of golf with personal development strategies to build resilience, support wellbeing, and strengthen social connections. A heartfelt thanks goes to former Principal Sharryn Daly for bringing this program to CHS, to Ms Liebelt and the Year 9 team for coordinating, and to the Clare Golf Club for generously providing their facilities, equipment, and volunteers.
Congratulations to our Year 10 students who have been selected for the Youth Opportunities Personal Leadership Program. This valuable initiative equips young leaders with the tools, confidence, and mindset to create positive change in their own lives and within their communities. We’re proud of their commitment and look forward to seeing their growth throughout the program.
We’re thrilled to announce that Illuminate Clare will be hosted at Clare High School on Wednesday 3rd July. This exciting evening will showcase student talent, creativity, and innovation. Be sure to mark your calendars—we’d love to see families and community members come together to celebrate the incredible work of our students and the CHS Arts faculty.
Clare High School continues to thrive through the dedication of our staff, the enthusiasm of our students, and the strength of our wider school community. Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to sharing more highlights with you soon.
Warm regards,
Kylie Alozie
