Clare High School’s Senior Secondary program offers students a wealth of learning opportunities within a supportive environment. Our Senior School program emphasizes fostering independence and a love of learning, providing flexibility in time and subject choices to support individual talents and interests, and offering Home Study options for those who meet academic and attendance criteria. Students enjoy access to a self-managed study room with kitchen facilities for break times and other privileges associated with being the ‘Seniors,’ serving as role models for Clare High School. The Year 11/12 Roll Class teacher team collaborates to support each student’s successful transition from school to the workforce or further study, in the format of their choice. Staff assist students in excelling in areas of personal interest to achieve their SACE and succeed in their chosen career pathways.
In Year 11, students are provided the opportunity to complete the SACE compulsory subjects: English, Mathematics, and Activating Identities and Futures (AIF), allowing them greater flexibility in subject choices for Year 12.
A dedicated team of specialist staff works collaboratively to ensure academic success and student well-being. This support is provided through a variety of programs, subject offerings, extra-curricular activities, and Clare High School’s Pastoral Care Program. Starting in 2025, one lesson per week will be dedicated to topical and relevant presentations for the two cohorts. Year 11 Pastoral Care lessons will cover topics such as Driver Awareness, Drug Education, and Addictive Behaviours, while the Year 12 program will focus on transitioning to life post-school and career pathways, including scholarships, university, TAFE, and SATAC presentations.
We offer students alternative pathways to complete their SACE, including access to Vocational Education and Training (VET) opportunities, as well as support for School-Based Apprenticeships (SBAs) and Traineeships. Clare High School students can also enroll in courses delivered through Open Access if relevant to their chosen pathway, with popular options including Nutrition and Legal Studies.
Senior School students are provided with numerous opportunities to engage in extra-curricular activities, including the Student Representative Council (SRC), CHS Sport Carnivals, arts opportunities, international education experiences, volunteering, and Knockout Sport events
