Content: Humanities offers students learning experiences that will enable them to gain a better understanding of the diverse nature of Australian society and the world around us. It gives students opportunities to develop and evaluate their own opinions and views, and to enhance their skills in communication, critical thinking, decision-making and participation. The Humanities course encourages students to consider and evaluate different points of view by investigating issues of historical concern. Students will be given opportunities to develop skills and acquire knowledge that will help them to become informed, questioning and active participants in Australian society.
History – The Modern World & Australia:
- Global conflict during the twentieth century
- Consequences of World War II
Topics Overview:
- WW2 in the Pacific Theatre of War and European Theatre of War
- Rights and Freedoms
- Holocaust
Assessment: Students are assessed using the Australian Curriculum Achievement Standards.
