All Middle Secondary students continue to study the compulsory curriculum areas of Mathematics, English, Science, Physical Education, and Humanities. In Years 9 and 10, students begin their personalised learning journey by choosing additional subjects they wish to explore further, such as Agriculture, Music, Technology Studies, Media Arts, and more.
Year 9 and 10 students participate in a structured Pastoral Care program throughout the year, focusing on personal growth and well-being. This weekly program aims to help students strengthen relationships, build positive emotions, enhance personal resilience, promote mindfulness, and encourage a healthy lifestyle.
All Year 9 students are required to complete The Rite Journey. This semester-long program, delivered in single-sex groups, develops and fosters personal growth, emotional intelligence, and a sense of community. It includes a camp with a focus on the key elements of their rite journey; responsibility, resilience, and respect.
In Year 10, students meet the requirements of the Australian Curriculum and begin their journey through the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) with the EIF (Exploring Identities and Futures) course. This course helps students consider their aspirations and research their options for career, training, and further study, allowing them to set goals and choose subjects for their Senior Secondary years.
Year 10 students also have the opportunity to attend a Career Pathways Camp, costing approximately $200 per student. This camp provides a chance to experience university and TAFE life across various curriculum areas. Students will choose workshops of interest, ask questions, and explore future degrees and certificates beyond Year 12. Those intending to enter the workforce directly rather than further study can engage in work experience during this time.
Additionally, Year 10 students may apply for a position in the Youth Opportunities program, which awards 20 SACE credits and has two intakes per year. This Personal Leadership Program helps students take control of their learning and develop habits for success.
